MGX Announces Drilling at Kibby Basin, Nevada Lithium Brine Project

CSE:XMG, MGX Minerals, lithium,

MGX Minerals Inc. (“MGX” or the “Company”) (CSE: XMG / FKT: 1MG / OTCQB: MGXMF) is pleased to announce that drilling has  commenced at the Kibby Basin, Nevada lithium brine property (“Kibby Basin” or the “Property”). The drill program is being conducted by Harris Exploration Drilling & Associates Inc. (“Harris”). Harris has extensive experience drilling Clayton Valley lithium brines.  Clayton Valley is the home of Abermarle’s Silver Peak Mine, the only US lithium producer and is located 50km to the South of the Kibby Basin. Eight drill targets were generated based on results from a Quantec MT geophysical survey completed in January. The proposed drill holes are designed to test a large MT conductor which may represent aquifers containing lithium brines. The drill holes have been designed to intercept the MT anomaly starting at depths of 325 m (1065 ft.) and continue to as deep as 760 m (2500 ft.). The objective is to determine the nature of the conductor, collect sediment samples for lithium analyses, identify aquifers and sample water and any brines encountered. read more

MGX Minerals Commences Laboratory Bench-Scale Testing of Thermochemical Process to Extract Lithium from Spodumene; Case Lake Lithium Project Bulk Sample Testing Underway

CSE:XMG, MGX Minerals, lithium,

MGX Minerals Inc. (“MGX” or the “Company”) (CSE: XMG / FKT: 1MG / OTC: MGXMF) is pleased to announce that Orion Laboratories, LLC (“Orion”) and Light Metals International Inc. (“LMI”) have commenced laboratory bench-scale testing of a 10 kilogram bulk sample of spodumene-rich rock originating from the Case Lake lithium project in Ontario. The mineralized material is currently undergoing chemical and mineralogical homogeneity testing, with the objective of extracting lithium compounds and achieving a 95% pure spodumene concentrate. Results of testing performed to date by Orion and LMI indicate that this level of spodumene purity is achievable. Once bench-scale testing has been completed to a satisfactory level, additional mineral separation testing will be conducted to further develop the hydrothermal leaching processes in order to purify high-grade spodumene concentrate. read more

MGX Minerals Completes Drill Program at British Columbia Silicon Property

CSE:XMG, MGX Minerals, lithium,

MGX Minerals Inc. (“MGX” or the “Company”) (CSE:XMG) (FKT:1MG) (OTCQB:MGXMF) is pleased to report it has completed the previously announced diamond drill program on its Koot silicon project (“Koot” or the “Project”) in British Columbia. A total of 782 meters (2,565 feet) of drilling were completed across 10 drill holes. Drill core has been split and sent to ALS Minerals in North Vancouver, British Columbia for special carbide pulverizing disc preparation and ME-ICP06 whole rock analysis. The Summer 2018 drill program was designed to define an initial N.I. 43-101 resource estimate. Additional drill work is planned at two of the Company’s nearby silicon properties with the goal of also defining a resource. Historic Exploration conducted by COMINCO during the 1980’s outlined a mineralized zone spanning approximately 400 meters consisting of high-purity silicon dioxide (SiO2). read more

MGX Minerals and Engineering Partner Highbury Energy Announce R&D for Petroleum Coke to Synthetic Crude Oil Gasification with Vanadium, Nickel, Cobalt Extraction

CSE:XMG, MGX Minerals, lithium,

MGX Minerals Inc. (“MGX” or the “Company”) (CSE:XMG) (FKT:1MG) (OTCQB:MGXMF) and Highbury Energy Inc. (“Highbury”) are pleased to report additional work has commenced on gasification of petroleum coke (“petcoke”), an oilsands and refinery by-product, into a synthetic liquid equivalent to refinery crude oil feedstock. The expanded research and development is focused on the re-processing of petcoke waste product to a synthetic crude oil. The target specification is being designed to allow for reuse of petcoke into a primary input equivalent to crude oil that can be upgraded into petro-chemical products in a traditional refinery without any modification to existing equipment. The goal is to produce a fuel which can seamlessly integrate into existing refinery operations. This represents a potential long-term use for the large existing stockpiles of petcoke as well as ongoing output of petcoke and other waste products without significant changes to the existing refinery infrastructure. To date work has been focused on petcoke to hydrogen gas output and the extraction of metals from the gasification of the residual ash, in particular vanadium, nickel, and cobalt. read more
